Fundraiser: Hermes has made friends at the nearby Beatson Cancer Charity

The Hyndland Station Cat was returned to his owners tonight after being lost for nearly three weeks.

The news was announced on Hermes’ Twitter account this evening.

It read: “Call off the search – I am home!”

It said: “Glasgow heroes Alana @alhal6 and Ross saw me safety returned to my house humans this evening.”

The Hyndland Station Cat is familiar to hundreds of commuters who use the West End station every day.

Since July last year, Hermes has even had his own Twitter account – with more than 5,000 followers.

Absent: Hyndland Station Cat has been reported missing

News of his disappearance before Christmas had his followers tweeting and retweeting their support.

Reported sightings were made as far as Partickhill Road.

Many false sightings turned out to be look-a-like Hermes in the Hyndland area.

His Twitter handler told Glasgow West End Today that everyone was relieved that Hermes was safe and well.

The admin said: “Hermes’ family would like to say a huge thank you to everyone on twitter and local news outlets for helping spread the word, as well as the locals who went out searching in all weathers and made the ‘missing’ posters!

“Hermes is grounded for a wee while so we might not see him back on station/hospital duties for a wee while!”

Hermes even has his own station badge courtesy of Network Rail.

And fundraisers at the nearby Beatson Cancer Charity have also adopted him.

A 2018 charity calendar with pictures of Hermes has been a big seller.

His Twitter handler added: “So many people got in touch to say they were willing Hermes home, which helped keep our spirits up.

“And now, everyone can enjoy their Hermes calendars without feeling sad!!!”
