A West End based cancer charity has thanked a legal firm after its staff raised thousands of pounds.
Glasgow-based Dallas McMillan raised £15,000 after making Cancer Support Scotland its official good cause.
Staff held everything from race nights to zip slides to raise money for Scotland’s leading one-to-one counselling charity.
Senior Partner Forbes Leslie said: “We are delighted that our first year of having Cancer Support Scotland as our official charity partner has seen us raise over £15,000 for them.
“Knowing that the money we have raised is being used to help them carry on their excellent work is a real source of pride for Dallas McMillan.”
Colin Graham, chief executive of Cancer Support Scotland, said: “Raising this amount of money for us was a tremendous effort and we’re very grateful to the staff at Dallas McMillan for their support.
“The firm has been a great supporter of the charity for a number of years and it would be wonderful if other businesses would follow their lead and nominate Cancer Support Scotland as their charity of the year.
“All the counselling services and complementary therapies we provide for people with cancer and their families are free and donations from the public and businesses like Dallas McMillan are our lifeblood.
“It’s because of them that we are able to help the growing number of people seeking our assistance.”
As well as one-to-one counselling, Cancer Support Scotland offers a range of complementary therapies including various forms of massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, reiki, guided visualisation and stress management techniques all aimed at easing pain and discomfort and reducing stress and anxiety.
Chiropody and nail care services are also available for people undergoing treatment for cancer.
Cancer Support Scotland is based on the Gartnavel Hospital campus in Glasgow but is not part of the NHS.
It also offers counselling and/or complementary therapy at outreach centres throughout the city and at other locations in Renfrewshire, Argyll and Bute, Edinburgh and West Lothian.
