VIDEO: Who says romance is dead? Max pops question in snowy Kelvingrove Park

By Ellen Thomson at

It seemed like the perfect moment to pop the big question.

The coldest, snowiest day of the winter was just right for Max Hunter to get down on one knee.

Romantic Max and Kelvingrove

Moment: the couple embrace after Max pops the question and Casey says yes

The location was Kelvingrove Park as friends and bystanders looked on.

As the weather wreaked havoc across the country, Max kept calm to ask girlfriend Casey Washburn to marry him.

She said yes, and those around them burst into applause.

A video of the big moment was posted by Max’s dad, Geoff, a retired professional heavyweight boxer.

He sent the film out with the words: “My boy @maxh_hunter popping the question today to Casey in the beautiful Kelvingrove Park #Glasgow.

“What a romantic soul he is! Massive congrats to both of them!! #proudparents”

Max told Glasgow West End Today he’d planned to pop the question soon – but the snow made today seem like the moment.

Both Max and Casey, who are both in their early 20s, live in Glasgow and the park is one of their favourite places.

Max said: “It’s such a beautiful place. We both love the view and the snow was perfect. She said yes.

“The proposal was planned but the snow and how beautiful it was sped up the plans.”

Max bends on one knee to pop the question, to which the answer is yes from a stunned Casey.

He then places a ring on her finger and the couple kiss – friends whoop and applaud in the background.

The park was busy today with hundreds of people enjoying the snow.

The weather forced the closure of schools across the city and many businesses.

Proposal: Max gets down on one knee to pop question to girlfriend Casey

Thursday will see further disruption with schools off again and the central belt experiencing a red alert weather warning.

People have been told not to travel to work.

Max and Casey will be one couple, though, who will remember the heaviest snowfall of the year as a very special day.

Here’s all the best to the lucky couple.
